What must I do to be saved?

This was the question posed to the apostle Paul by the Philippian jailer in the book of (Acts 16:30-33)

The Bible teaches, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Everyone is in need of salvation. Salvation comes through Jesus Christ "salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Salvation is a gift from God, not as a result of our good works or of any human effort (Ephesians 2:8-9).

God's plan for salvation is simple and straightforward. It is only by God's grace through faith that we can be saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). As a person responds to God's offer of grace by repenting of his/her sin (Acts 3:19), confessing his/her faith in Christ (Matthew 10:32-33) and submitting to baptism (immersed in water) "into Christ" (Romans 6:3), his/her sins will be cleansed by the blood shed by the Lord on the cross (Acts 22:16 ; Hebrews 9:27-28) and they will recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). He/she then begins a new life of faithfulness to God.
